Born 1986 in Bandung, Indonesia, Yugie graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Ceramic Art. A curious multi-talented artist and entrepreneur, he has worked in several creative industries including as a graphic designer, art director and marketing manager.
His work with children enabled him to reflect on clay’s capacity to enhance creativity, well-being and interdisciplinary learning. For example, children simultaneously learned maths, (clay) science and social skills. He also noticed that when focusing on creating with clay, participants experience a state of flow, similar to meditation.

Selected in an online ceramic mentorship by Dr Wendy Gers, an award winning curator, activist scholar, coach and eco-warrior specialized in Modern and Contemporary ceramics.

Yugie’s art practice integrates his artistic knowledge focus on clay’s educational potential, and capacity to enable mindfulness and human interaction.

Yugie is a great teacher. He taught me many different techniques from throwing to hand building. He knows how to make a student feel comfortable and confident working on their own. After taking lessons from him I am confident that I could make whatever I set my heart on. He gives great constructive criticism! Mr Yugie was my teacher for 3 year. For me he doesn’t only teach me basic pottery knowledge, he opened my love and expanded my ideas for pottery. Mr Yugi wasn’t only my teacher he was my mentor/friend.

I had multiple classes with Yugie at Kevala Studio and it was a great experience. He is very knowledgeable about ceramics and pottery and taught us so much during the classes. I created the most stunning vases during my hand-building class and Yugie made sure I was happy with the results.
After a few classes Yugie created a tailor-made program for me and my daughter and again it was not disappointing. We had 8 studio classes and created raw-looking sets of cups, plates and bowls. So beautiful! It was a great mother-and-daughter time for me and Yugie was there to assist us on every step of our work.

The class was so fun meskipun private. Kak Yugie juga ajarin banyak technique yang bener bener kepake sampai sekarang. Terlebih lagi kak Yugie menjawab semua seribu pertanyaan dan semua curiosityku tentang dunia pottery.
